World Demolition Award Victory For Hughes And Salvidge

We did it! Celebrations are still continuing at Hughes and Salvidge HQ after we received confirmation last Friday that the company had triumphed at the 2016 World Demolition Awards.

Held in Miami, with the winners announced during the eighth World Demolition Summit, Hughes and Salvidge walked away with the Recycling and Environmental Award, beating companies from New Zealand and the USA.

Our submission for the Recycling and Environmental Award was based on our Versalis project in Hythe, obtaining the Carbon Trust Standard for CO2 Reduction, and our Green Hands Initiative, which the whole company took part in.

A representative from C&D Consultancy (a demolition consultancy and health & safety training company) received the award on our behalf and the trophy will be in our possession next week.

Explaining their reasoning for giving us the nod, the judges said: “Recycling and environmental protection are a must on all demolition projects in 2016, but the winners demonstrated how performance measurement can ensure full client satisfaction and environmental management.”

We were one of five first-time winners at the event which was taking place in the USA for the very first time.

The event is organised by Demolition & Recycling International magazine, in co-operation with the National Demolition Association of the US and with the support of the European Demolition Association.

To receive global recognition on this scale is a momentous moment in our already illustrious 50+ year history.

A huge thank you to our customers and outstanding team of workers for helping us win this incredible honour. We couldn’t have won it without you.
