Rowner Project Gets Some Special Guest Visitors

We have recently updated our projects page with details of our work on the Rowner Renewal Project in Gosport, Hampshire, but we haven’t been the only ones keeping an eye on the demolition works at this site.

Wendy McIlroy, a Rowner resident, contacted us late last year to tell us that her granddaughter Lily, aged 3, had been keeping a very close eye on the ‘dinosaur’ munching away at the old Rowner flat blocks and that they walked to the site almost every day to check on progress.

We decided that Lily probably needed to get a closer look at the concrete eating dinosaur and invited Lily and her grandparents to watch some of the demolition from inside the site boundary.

So in January, dressed in our finest PPE, Lily and her grandparents watched as demolition began on the last block to be torn down.

In an email received after their visit, Wendy said, “Lily had a great time and was invited back, thank you for the visit”.

Our site team agree that it was an excellent first day on the job for our newest and youngest member of the Hughes and Salvidge team!
