A Stand-Out Job

Dismantling

Hughes and Salvidge were delighted to be selected to assist on another phase of the £11.5m redevelopment plans for Portsmouth Football Club’s Fratton Park stadium.

After completing the dismantling of the floodlights at Fratton Park last year, we once again worked with local contractor, and fellow Pompey sponsor, PMC Construction & Development Services Ltd on initial redevelopment works on the stadium’s North Stand.

Pompey have decided to redevelop the North Stand to improve the levels and sight lines of the stand for fans, at the same time as enhancing safety through wider staircases, additional safety barriers, renewed LED lighting and electrical works.

The North Stand redevelopment will also create 12 new spaces for wheelchair users and their personal assistants, add kiosks, increase areas in the concourses and increase toilet facilities for female supporters.

Seating had already been removed from this area of the North Stand and we commenced works immediately after the Christmas and New Year break, as one of our 30-Tonne excavators was tasked with breaking out the concrete base.

We then assisted in the removal from site of the arising concrete, which will be crushed and used on other PMC projects in the local area, before grading the remaining ground as requested. Our phase of works was completed in one week.

Overall works on this part of the North Stand are planned to complete by May 2022, and the next phase of the North Stand redevelopment is then expected to commence in the Summer.
