As part of this commitment, we have already welcomed several work experience students into the business this year, providing them with valuable insight into the diverse career opportunities available within demolition, decommissioning, asbestos management, recycling and wider construction-related sectors. With more placements planned throughout the year, we are proud to continue offering young people meaningful experiences that showcase the breadth of roles available across our industry.

Work experience placements provide students with the opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to professional working environments, helping them develop practical skills, confidence and a better understanding of potential career pathways. For Hughes & Salvidge, they also provide an opportunity to share the knowledge and expertise that has been built across more than six decades of delivering complex projects throughout the UK and internationally.

Our efforts to support future talent have been strengthened through partnerships with organisations dedicated to connecting education and industry. This year, we have worked alongside EBP South and HSDC, helping students explore opportunities within the construction, engineering and demolition sectors while highlighting the rewarding and varied careers available.

Looking ahead, Hughes & Salvidge will once again be supporting the iConstruct Careers Event this October. The event provides a fantastic platform to engage with students, educators and careers professionals, promoting the wide range of opportunities available across the built environment sector. By sharing real-world experiences and career journeys, we hope to encourage more young people to consider careers within industries that play a vital role in shaping, maintaining and regenerating our communities.
